Emily Ulman, Music Programmer for the Brunswick Music Festival.
A proud Melburnian, Emily is a musician with a comprehensive background in venue booking, publicity, management, music and production, which has seen her also take on the role as Music Programmer for the Brunswick Music Festival 2019.
When Emily visited our Studio + Factory + Store in Brunswick East ahead of the Festival, we took the opportunity to discuss everything from her favourite Brunswick hangouts to her personal style, and of course all things music. Here’s what she had to say…
If you could pick just three words that describe you, what would they be?
Loyal, lyrical and loving.
What are you most passionate about?
Giving a platform to deserving musicians, and currently quite passionate about the Doggies’s AFLW premiership defence.
Why is Melbourne home?
Melbourne is home because of the Melburnians who are constantly standing up for what’s right, with countless communities contributing to the best musical fabric in the world.
What are your favourite Brunswick hangouts?
All the incredible venues involved in Brunswick Music Festival of course. I’m looking forward to experiencing live music in venues that don’t usually host live music. Plus Very Good Felafel does what it says on the tin.
What is the best gig you’ve been to and why?
Get back to me after The Necks perform their Brunswick Music Festival sets.
What gigs will you be checking out at this year’s Brunswick Music Festival?
Quite literally all of them. Even if it wasn’t my job I’d be giving it a comprehensive crack.
