#NorthsideStory: Anastasia La Fey
This year we were fortunate to be involved with Melbourne fashion week 'Fashion capsules' exhibition. This exhibit showcases customised standard issue denims by creative artists including painters, sculptors, weavers, photographers and costume makers. Artist Anastasia La Fey was luckily paired with our team and created a work of art repurposed from our factory off-cut's and wash blankets.
We visited her studio and chatted about our shared love of Japanese textiles.
If you could pick three words that describe your studio, what would they be?
Eclectic ordered chaos.
What Melbourne event do you look forward to attending?
No one particular event – I am more interested in the myriad of independent art/ music/ performance gigs that abound in this city.
How would you describe your personal style?
Depends on the day but, to be completely honest, I’m a bit of a scruff.
What Denimsmith items are you wearing today?
70’s style BANJI flares.
What does your perfect day entail?
Beauty, Friends, Love, Laughter.
What is your favourite saying, song, or motto to which you live by?
" ...nature has endowed us with one skin too few...a fully sentient being should wear its nervous system externally.”
